SUSQUEHANNA RIVER MONITORING: Monitoring the water quality and fecal colifonn bacteria in the upper Susquehanna River, summer 2000
نویسنده
چکیده
As part of an ongoing study by the Biological Field Station, the Susquehanna River was monitored during the summer of2000 to ensure that the water quality below the Village of Cooperstown Water Treatment Plant was maintained within regulated limits. Weekly, water quality was monitored for fecal colifonn bacteria, as well as other chemical and physical characteristics. Results show that total phosphorus levels were slightly greater than last year, while fecal colifonn levels were fairly consistent with the previous year, which was substantially lower than 1998.

As part of an ongoing study, the water quality of the Susquehanna River between Otsego Lake and its junction with Oaks Creek was monitored during the summer of 1997. This monitoring program is designed to determine the assimilative capacity of the Susquehanna River below the point of discharge of the Village Sewage Treatment Plant. The study helps to detect point sources of pollution. The water...

متن کاملThe impact of climatic factors on bacterial indicators of freshwater quality
Most of microbial pathogens present in natural waters are of fecal origin. Thus detection of fecal contamination is the main aim of water quality monitoring. Routine bacterial indicators of fecal contamination are: the coliforms, fecal coliforms, fecal streptococci, Clostridium spp and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The present study aimed to determine the impacts of climatic factors on concentrations...
